Catch cedar early
Eastern red cedar takes open ground faster than most people expect, and reclaiming pasture is vastly easier at four feet of growth than at fourteen. The cost difference between doing it now and doing it in six years is not marginal.
Once cedar is large enough to need cutting rather than clipping, you are paying for tree work instead of brush work.
Open drop zones save you money
On acreage there is usually somewhere safe to fell a tree in one piece, and that is by a wide margin the cheapest way to take one down. Sectioned rigging exists because town lots have no room — on a farm we use the room.

Stock, fence, and what gets left behind
Anything left in a paddock is a hazard to livestock, so debris control on a working farm is not cosmetic. Board fence is expensive to repair and easy to damage with a carelessly dropped limb.

Yes, it is one of our most common farm jobs. Tell us how wide you need it and whether the old fence is coming out.
Will you leave the wood?
Happily, and it lowers the price. Rounds cut to length and stacked where you want them is a common request out here.
Do you work around livestock?
Yes, with the plan discussed first — where stock will be moved, how gates are handled, and full debris pickup before anything goes back in.
Can you take a big hardwood near the barn?
Yes. If there is a safe drop zone it is straightforward; if it is tight between structures it becomes a rigging job and we will price it that way.
